XIE CAOMIN (b. 1974) is a Shanghai & Atlanta-based artist, originally from China, and has been working in the US since 1999. He studied sculpture and painting at China Academy of Art (2000) and Savannah College of Art & Design and holds a BFA in sculpture and an MFA in painting. He currently teaches studio art at Clayton State University.
Xie’s exhibitions include: Black Lotus – Solo Exhibition, Fay Gold Gallery, Atlanta, Georgia (2014); The Circle of the Ruins –The Other Gallery, Beijing, China (2012): Samsara - Solo Exhibition, Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia (2011). Tribes New York International Art Contest (2006); The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition (2006) at Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery; Altered Traditions (2007), at Ethan Cohen Fine Arts in New York; Electronic Media Painting (2008) at Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art in China; solo exhibition The Still Within, at Savannah College of Art & Design Hong Kong Gallery in 2010; solo exhibition Samsara at the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia in (2011); solo exhibition The Circle of Ruins at the Other Gallery Beijing in (2012); Dragon, Asia Aspiring, the contemporary Asian art exhibition at Arterior Taipei and the group exhibition Contemporary Expressionism at the San Diego Art Museum in (2013). Caomin is also the winner or the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia Working Artist Project Award (2010-2011). His paintings have been collected by Savannah College of Art & Design, Savannah Telfair Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia.
