Bernd Ribbeck (b. 1974 Cologne, Germany) studied at the Akademie der Künste in Munich. His small format works derive unmistakably from the Classical Modern and explore the discrepancy between the promises of the expressionistic avant-garde and its implementation in painting, although he uses materials such as ballpoint pens, permanent markers, and lacquer pens, which one would generally ascribe to drawing. Thus, images emerge which an epic space opens despite the abstraction, a fictional world without explanation, icons without a religion. He is represented by Galerie Peter Kilchmann in Zurich, Galerìa Casadosantapau in Madrid and Norma Mangione Gallery in Turin. Bernd Ribbeck lives and works in Berlin.
