Born in Buenos Aires in 1959, Sergio Vega attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study program in 1991/1992 and received an MFA in sculpture from Yale University in 1996. He participated in numerous international exhibitions including Documenta (13); the 51 Biennale di Venezia; the 3rd Moscow Biennale; ARS06, Helsinki; Sharjah Biennial 8, United Arab Emirates; Prague Biennale 1, Czech Republic; the 5 Biennal de Lyon; 1st Yokohama Triennale, Japan; Sonsbeek 9, Holland; II Kwangju Biennale, South Korea; and Site Santa Fe III International Biennial, New Mexico.
He lives and works in Gainesville, Florida and teaches photography at the University of Florida since 1999.
