CANAN (b. 1970 Istanbul, Turkey) studied painting at Marmara University, Istanbul, from 1994 to 1998. In 2006, the artist completed a residency at The School of The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Selected solo exhibitions include Rahmi M Koç Museum, Istanbul; Tabela, Istanbul; Laden No:5, Germany; KBH Kunsthal, Copenhagen; Even A Cat Has Mustache, Gallery Xist, Istanbul; “Segregate”, Kibela Multimedia Center, Maribor; Turkish Delight, Gallery Xist, Istanbul. Selected group exhibitions include Passage de Retz, Paris; Parc de la Villette, Paris; Maribor Art Gallery, Maribor; Brooklyn Museum, Newyork; Davis Museum and Cultural Center, Wellesley; , Triennale Bovisa, Milan; , Tanas Gallery, Berlin; Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), Seoul; Gallery Skuc, Ljubljana; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington; Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam; Saatchi Gallery, London; Istanbul Modern Museum, Istanbul. She also participated in the Bienal de Valencia, Spain (2001), and the Istanbul Biennial (2009).
CANAN now lives and works in Istanbul.
