BIOGRAPHY

Luca Francesconi (b.1979, Mantova, Italy) has recently had his work shown in solo exhibitions at the Umberto Di Marino in Naples and Fluxia in Milan.  He has shown in group shows at Palais the Tokyo in Paris, Fondazione Sandretto Rebaudengo in Turin, and Le Magasin-Cnanc in Grenoble.  He is represented by Umberto Di Marino in Naples and Fluxia in Milan. Luca Francesconi lives and works in Paris and Milan.

Luca Francesconi is known to work with elements of folk art in his exhibitions to incorporate elements of art and tradition. In his exhibition at Umberto di Marino Gallery, “Calendario delle semine” he used wood, bronze, glass, ceramic, plastic, clay, and alluvial soil in a way that each material had meaning along with aesthetic use.

Francesconi often makes use of shadow. “Gladio” is an installation that uses the strategic placement of a piece of a swordfish to create a shadow on white gallery wall. Luca’s Italian origin can be observed in his work, specifically, “Mask.” Which is a wrought copper engraving of the face of a man.
