BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1973 in London, United Kingdom, Alex Frost lives and works in London. Frost's recent work is born out of a playful inquiry into cultural sophistication. His sculptures and drawings attempt to manipulate and survey tasteful, high-minded and mature aesthetics. This attitude of inquiry is paired with the homespun nature of his materials and processes. Frost's work places into apposition the notions of the artist as facilitator and the artist cut loose from society.

Recent solo exhibitions include: 'good things come…',The Gallery at Plymouth College of Art (2016); 'Property Guardian' Flat Time House, London (2015); 'The Patrons' Cove Park (Generation), Argyll and Bute, Scotland (2014); 'Reproduction' Glasgow Print Studio, Glasgow International (2014); 'Self-defence and other hobbies'  The Park Gallery, Falkirk (2013); "Property Guardian" at Flat Time House, London, "The Patrons" at Cove Park, "Reproduction" at Glasgow Print Studio, “The Connoisseurs” at Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee (2010), “Compassion Fatigue” at Sorcha Dallas, Glasgow (2008), “BBQ” at Artsway, Hampshire (2008), “Adults” at Milton Keynes Gallery, Milton Keynes (2007) and “Format Wars” at Tramway, Glasgow (2007). Frost has also devised and run a number of projects collaboratively, notably, the artist-run radio station Radio Tuesday (1998 – 2002) with Duncan Campbell and Mark Vernon. He has also curated a number of exhibitions, most recently the exhibition “run run” at the Collins Gallery (curated with Sorcha Dallas), for Glasgow International 2008.
