He studied Visual Arts at the UNAM.He has exhibited individually and collectively in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He has made multiple residences among which are: International Studio & Curatorial Program, (NY, 2009), Kunstnarsenter Nordic (Norway, 2011); Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts (Neb. 2014) and Casa Wabi Foundation (Oaxaca, 2015). He is currently a fellow of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, New York.

BIOGRAPHY
Balam Bartolomé (born 1975 in Chiapas, Mexico) studied a B.A.
in Visual Arts at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas, in
Mexico. He lives and works in Mexico City.
His practice ranges from sculpture, writing, photography,
installation, video and drawing.
His work has been exhibited in non-profit art spaces,
galleries and museums in Argentina, Brasil, Canada, Colombia, Czech
Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands,
Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, UK, Uruguay and USA.
2004. Received the Young Creators grant sponsored by the
National Council for Culture & Arts (CONACULTA) from
Mexico.
2007. Was resident artist at ERA2007- Encuentro Regional de
Arte: Region Fricciones y Ficciones; Arte en transito, Dialogo con
la Historia, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
2009. Was resident artist at the International Studio &
Curatorial Program (ISCP) in NYC.
2011. Was resident artist at the Nordic Artist Centre
Dalsåsen, in Dale, Norway.
2012. Was invited as artist and curator to the 1st Bristol
Biennial, in UK.
2013. His first book, Batalla de Ciervos (Battle of the
Stags), was published by the Taller de Ediciones Económicas, with
the support of Jumex Foundation.
2014. Was resident artist at the Bemis Center for Contemporary
Arts in Nebraska, USA.
2014. Had his first one man show in a museum, a project named
Inside-out, at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, in Mexico
City.
2015. Was resident artist at the Fundación Casa Wabi in Puerto
Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico.
In 2016 will be residen artist at Escuela Flora, within Flora
Ars+Natura, en Bogotá Colombia.
In 2016 will be grantee of the Pollock-Krasner
Foundation.
