Katja Eckert was born in Rüsselsheim, Germany in 1976 and studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. Her drawings are often mistaken for photography and are in fact produced on the computer, where the artist with the aid of skillfully applied professional design programs realizes her very own "Bildvorstellungen”. Thus she creates a cosmos of arcane beings often resembling small, vulnerable animals such as rabbits, hamsters, mice and guinea pigs. Her humerous and highly imaginative drawings and paintings as well as her new films have recently been exhibited at Kunstverein München, Osram Art Gallery in Munchen, 17 Jahre Treppenhausgalerie, Patrick Heide Contemporary Art in London. The artist is currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
