BIOGRAPHY

Jaime Gili (b. 1972 Caracas, Venezuela) started studies in Prodiseño, Caracas, in 1990, then moved to Barcelona to study in Facultad de Bellas Artes, Universidad de Barcelona, graduating in 1995. Later received an MA from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1998 and a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 2001. He participated in the ERASMUS program twice: at the Ecole Nationale Superièure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Hochschule der Kunste, in Berlin.

Gili’s work is held in prestigious collections such as the Cisneros Collection, New York, Banco Mercantil, Caracas, and Saatchi Collection, London. Gili’s work was first exhibited in 1993 and has continued to be exhibited internationally in a vast number of group shows and a growing number of solo shows including three in 2009 (Everything is Borrowed, Alejandra von Hartz, Miami; COMMA04, Bloomberg space, London and Kunsthalle, Winterthur, Zurich). Gili is referenced in, or the subject of, numerous publications including “Histórica. Memoria y Territorio. Colección Mercantil” and “Newspeak: British Art Now. Saatchi Gallery".

Jaime Gili lives and works in London and is represented by the Riflemaker Gallery for Contemporary Art in London, and Alejandra von Hartz in Miami.
