BIOGRAPHY

Katrina Moorhead (b. 1971 Colerain, Northern Ireland) graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in the United Kingdom with a BA in 1994 followed by a MFA in 1996. She participated in the Artist-in-Residence Program at the Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas from 1996 to 1998. Selected solo exhibitions include Katrina Moorhead: a darkling plain, Inman Gallery (2009), A Thing Called Early Blur, Blaffer Gallery, The Art Museum of the University of Houston, Houston, Texas (2007), Low-Slung Clouds, Gallery Side 2, Tokyo, Japan (2007), a pretty girl that this man does not love her, Inman Gallery, Houston, Texas (2006). Selected group exhibitions include A Sorry Kind of Wisdom, Perry Rubenstein Gallery (2008) Fantastic Frameworks: Architectural Utopias + Designs for Life, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada (2006), Sparkle, Gallery Side 2, Tokyo, Japan (2006), The Nature of Things, 51st Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy (2005). Recent awards include the Artadia Awards (2008), Joan Mitchell Foundation Award for Painters and Sculptors (2008) and the Texas Art Prize (2007).
