Tamara Kostianovsky was born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1974 and grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes “Prilidiano Pueyrredón” in Buenos Aires, Argentina (1998) and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA (2003).
She is the receipient of awards from GRAM Selects Art Prize Seven: Encore, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Grand Rapids, MI (2015), the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (2008), and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (2005). In 2008 she was nominated to participate in the Commissions Program at the Cisneros-Fontanals Foundation (CIFO) in Miami, FL.
Recent exhibitions include Relic, Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Grand Rapids, MI (2015), After Goya Nevada Museum of Art, Reno NV (2015), Black and White Gallery//Chelsea (2008), The Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art (2006), and El Centro Cultural J.L. Borges, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2000). Her work has been included in group exhibitions at El Museo del Barrio, NY; Exit Art, NY; The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA; and Pierre Menard Gallery in Cambridge, Mass.
