BIOGRAPHY

Raimond Chaves (b. 1963 Bogotá, Colombia) has recently won the Fundación Botín grant, Spain, and completed residency at Capacete, Río de Janeiro, Brazil. Selected solo exhibitions include /Acirema/, a solo project at ARCO '08 at Mirta Demare Gallery, Madrid (2008); /Mal de América -- Dibujos De Viajes/, with Gilda Mantilla, at gallery ProjecteSD in Barcelona (2007); /Dibujando América - Notas y Apuntes De Un Viaje De 100 Días Entre Caracas y Lima/, with Gilda Mantilla, at the Cultural Center of Spain in Lima, Peru (2007), Patio Herreriano Museum in Valladolid (2006), and Casa de America in Madrid,  Spain (2005).

Selected group exhibitions include /Articulações/, organized by Fundação de Serralves, at Antiga Fábrica da Cerveja in Faro, Portugal (2008); Huarte Centro de Arte Contemporaneo, Spain (2008); Frankfurter Kunstverain, Germany; Galería Leme, Brasil; Museo de Arte de Lima, Perú; Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Castilla y Leon, Spain (all in 2007) 27th Sao Paulo Biennial, Brazil (2006).

He is represented by Projecte SD in Barcelona and Valenzuela y Klenner in Bogotá. Raimond Chaves lives and works between Lima, Bogotá, and Barcelona.
