Göran Gnaudschun (b. 1971, Potsdam) lives as a visual artist and freelance photographer based in Potsdam. He received his Degree in Artistic Photography from the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (University of Visual Arts) Leipzig, where he studied from 1994 to 2000, and from 2001 to 2003 for the completion of his Masters in Visual Arts under Prof. Timm Rautert.
He was awarded the Lotto-Brandenburg Art Award (2012), kunstfonds grant (2013), HannoverShots-grant of „Hannover-Foundation“ (2015) and Prize of the "German Academy Villa Massimo, Rome" (2016).
Most often, his subjects include portraits and landscapes. The series, “Islands” includes photographs of trees that grow in the middle of empty fields. These specific shots portray the trees to resemble islands. Included in the frame of the photograph are land, sky, and the “island” of trees. These three objects are seen in the photograph and monochromatic shapes.
His work has recently been shown in solo exhibitions such as Berlin Alexanderplatz, Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus, Berlin; “Innen und Außen" Kunstraum Potsdam, "Ufer - Göran Gnaudschun and Jan Dörre", Projektraum Galerie Leuenroth / Galerie Schwindt, as well as in group exhibitions like Lost Kids (with Ohm Phanphiroj), Kunstverein 68elf e.V.; Leipzig.Fotografie seit 1839, Museum der bildenden; "Close The Gap" at the Kiel and Wolfsberg gallery (UBS) in Switzerland. Göran Gnaudschun lives and works in Germany.
