Don’t forget to put flowers in your hair
Galerie Hartwich, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sellin, 04/14/2017 - 06/11/2017
Schulstraße 5
Mit: Heike Kati Barath, Gabriele Basch, Andrea Damp, Franziska Hünig, Jörg Baier, Jukka Korkeila
Curated by Berlin based artist Franziska Hünig, the title of the show is derived from Scott McKenzie´s famous hippie era song lyrics of San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair) and it is meant to work as a positive impulse sent out to the world during these dark times we are living. The exhibition mostly consists of female artistic positions in the field of installation and painting: four female artists and only two male artists. One of the artists is living in Brussels, one in Glauburg-Stockheim, Oberhessen and four in Berlin: five Germans and a Finn getting together on the beautiful island of Rügen by the Baltic sea, where Caspar David Friedrich was painting his romantic seaside landscapes in the 17th century. This is a possibility of seeing good contemporary art and getting some sand in your shoes during the long walk at the beach. The show is running until 11th of June. Herzlich Willkommen!
