Aki Sasamoto is a New York-based, Japanese artist, whose performance / installation works revolve around everyday gestures on nothing and everything. She received a MFA from the School of the Arts at Columbia University in New York, and a BA in Studio Arts and Dance from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Sasamoto co-founded and co-directs Culture Push Inc., a new arts organization, in which diverse professionals meet through artist-led projects and cross-disciplinary symposia.

Selected exhibitions and performances include remembering/modifying/developing at Yokohama Triennale (2008), Praying Project in Freeway Balconies at Deutsche Guggenheim (2008), Area 51, with Yvonne Meier, at St. Marc's Church in New York (2007); Mute, with Dan St. Clair, at the Issue Project Room in New York (2007); and cooking show, at Chocolate Factory Theater in New York (2007).
